Re: Dowsing in "Herge's Adventures of Tintin"

P.S. Just noticed that the book has a stamp on the inside. It appear that it came from the Geology library at the Facutly of Sciences at the University of Rennes! As an aside, when the book arrived the pages had not been cut. In other words the book had been sitting on the shelves at the University...

Re: Beagle 2 spotted by satellite?

from the BBC...
Beagle 2, the failed British mission to Mars in 2003, came "excruciatingly close" to succeeding, a study shows.

Re: Dowsing in "Herge's Adventures of Tintin"

Quote from Wikipedia: The story [Land of Black Gold] was commissioned by the conservative Belgian newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle for its children's supplement Le Petit Vingtième, in which it was initially serialised from September 1939 until the German invasion of Belgium in May 1940, at which the ne...

Re: Dowsing in "Herge's Adventures of Tintin"

The associate in question was Georges Discry, who refers to his: "Recherches d'Or et de Diamants au Congo Belge, en Australie, pour compte de différentes Sociétés." which may be translated as: "Dowsing of Gold and Diamonds in the Belgian Congo, Australia, on behalf of various companie...

Re: Dowsing in "Herge's Adventures of Tintin"

Here is the Wikipedia page on Leopold II of Belgium - not a very nice man at all. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopold_II_of_Belgium There is a possible link with Herge here, because the identity of Herge's grandfather was unknown. There was a rumour that Herge had an aristocratic ancestor and this...

Re: Michael Cook (and Randi "Psychic Investigator" TV show)

I found a review of the book which accompanied the "Psychic Investigator" series in the Journal of the Society for Psychic Research (Jan. 1992, Vol 58, No. 826). The reviewer (Tom Ruffles) says that the experiments "were not scientifically conducted". The successful map-dowsing t...

The Strange Affair of....The Old Straight Track [1980s show]

TV series from the Mid 1980s: "The Strange Affair of..." presented by this white-whiskered fellow called Robert Symes. One episode concerned Ley Lines and featured some dowsers (and an unsuccessful test if my memory serves me rightly). http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/a9b238f76d7e41b29919b5cc760...
