Re: Water on the Moon and Mars

Hot on the heels of my last post, here's one about water on Mars! Salt lakes may exist under the ice at the South Pole of Mars Under the ice at the South Pole of Mars, a huge salt lake may be hidden. Italian scientists believe that this is where future missions to search for extraterrestrial life sh...

Cork farmer blames bad luck on fallen standing stone

Donal Bohane has had more than his fair share of bad luck over the past few years. However, the Cork farmer is hoping a pair of Dutch druids living in Kerry might actually change his fortune. As well as seeing his fields outside Skibbereen flooded numerous times at a cost of thousands in lost reven...

Why do we see dead people?

At first read, this article seems to be peddling the 'standard' reductionist viewpoint on visions of the dead, but it redeems itself somewhat by the end. Why Do We See Dead People? Humans have always sensed the ghosts of loved ones. It’s only in the last century that we convinced ourselves this was ...

Re: Tigh Nam Bodach Grampians.

I've made the pilgrimage twice to visit the Cailleach, both times with profound experiences. It's a very powerful place, a tremendous atmosphere that commands respect.

It is a 2.5 hour walk each way to get to it from where you have to leave the car - hence why I call it a pilgrimage.

Re: Grave Dowsing

I found a story about grave dowsing in Halstead, Kansas: HALSTEAD—A biting northerly wind whooshed across the harvested cornfield near the Garden Valley Cemetery in rural Halstead as a group of about 30 people watched Vince Marshall find buried, unmarked bodies near a broken gravestone that read “As...

Canadian theatre seeks resident ghost

Every decent theatre has a ghost or three, although they're probably all very lonely since the pandemic lockdowns. Now a theatre in Canada is advertising the position of resident ghost - for a small fee of course. A theatre in Canada has launched a rather clever contest in which the winner will earn...

Re: Oh dear Mr Randi

This is a rather excellent appraisal of the late pseudo-sceptic Mr. Randi, citing in particular the damage he has done to serious psi researchers like Dean Radin and Rupert Sheldrake, not to mention Wikipedia, which is now rigorously policed by armies of pseudo-sceptic trolls. Worth a read: https://...

Re: Oh dear Mr Randi

Acclaimed pseudo-sceptic James Randi has passed on, aged 92. A second-rate conjuror, escape artist, so-called 'scientific investigator' (he had NO scientific qualifications), and self-professed sceptic and debunker, his main claim to fame remains his various high-profile tussles with Uri Geller and ...

Re: Military use of Dowsing

Here are a few more extracts from Col. Bell's address to congress in 1954 that deal with wartime dowsing... I first came in intimate contact with a water diviner when I was in hospital during the Boer War, in Pretoria fifty-four years ago...<snip>... Amongst others in the ward in which I lay was a t...
