Digests
Back in the early days of the forum, a feature that was asked for by a few members was the ability to have a regular digest of posts emailed to them to save having to check into the forum frequently. At the time, the forum software did not allow for such a facility.
Those members who requested such a feature will be pleased to learn that I've just added an extension that does exactly that. You can access it from your User Control Panel - click on your name at the top right and then select the rightmost 'Digest' tab at the top of the window.
Then there are four tabs down the left-hand side that allow you to set various options, such as how often you want to receive a digest, which forums you want to subscribe to, when you want to receive it, and so on.
I don't think it's worth selecting 'daily' as a frequency at the moment as things are rarely that busy these days, but give it a shot at 'weekly' and see how you get on. I'm still experimenting with it myself to see what works best, so let me know what you think of it and let's see how it goes.

Re: Digests
Thanks. Just set up mine. For anyone else doing the same: it seems you need to set- and save- your basics selections before you can change the defaults in the other sections.

Re: Digests
Grahame, yeah. Very excited about this feature. I just set mine up. This will make it much easier to see "what's happening"
Thanks again.

Re: Digests
There seems to be an issue with sending digests at the moment; I think some setting got changed during the last forum upgrade and I haven't managed to figure out what the problem is yet.
Apologies if you're a digest fan and have been wondering what's going on...

Re: Digests
I think I've managed to rectify the issue with the digests, so they should be working again now (at least the test function says that they are!).

Re: Digests
Nope. Still not getting anything. In fact, haven't got anything for months, but I kept forgetting to check settings. I've tried turning them of and back on again (the standard sequence for all computer-related stuff
)
I thought the forum had died, but I see new posts which i'm, not getting.
So... just a heads up...

Re: Digests
Yes, I know there is still a problem that I haven't managed to track down. They work when I do a manual test run but not when they're supposed to.

Re: Digests
FYI, still getting nothing...
Don't you just hate it when things don't work as they should? I share your pain.

Re: Digests
I'm still not getting digests myself either. Everything is working fine if I run the mailer manually, but it refuses to do the general automatic mail-out.
My best guess is that there simply isn't enough traffic on the board these days to trigger the digest mailer; there has to be... "an average of 2 posts per day over your digest time period (day, week or month) to appear in your digest. You cannot set it below the value set by the board administrator."
Aaaand... the board administrator (that would be me!) is not allowed to set the minimum post average to a level below 2.
So, if you want to see the digests, you have to post more often, folks!

Re: Digests
This extension has been causing me a lot of grief, particularly when trying to update the forum software. The low traffic on the board means that it's not functioning as it should, so I've disabled it for now.
