Vatican plots battle with Dan Brown over Da Vinci Code sequel
Angels & Demons is the latest Brown thriller to be turned into a film, and already the Catholic Church is agonising over how best to respond: to urge the faithful to boycott the film, or to ignore it?
Seems to me that the best thing for them to do is ignore it. The more of a ho ha they make over it the more people will read the book or see the movie. People who have nothing to hide, hide nothing.....if the book/movie is according to them nonsense, why are they so worried about it?
This comment from a friend in the US who has seen the film
"Such an excellent movie -- I'd like to see it at least two more times because I think some loose ends were not resolved ---The RC Church needs to quit!! It is fiction."
(I think she means that the film is fiction, not the RC church....)
I understand that the plot of the film differs somewhat from that of the book

Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried, grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel (Polonius)
I haven't yet read the book or seen the movie but I do intend to. I did read and see the Da Vinci code and throughly enjoyed it (the book was better than the movie though).
same old strory as far as I can see and my view is...'if it needs defending then it probably is not worth defending anyway'.One only has to look back at the aweful history of the church...the formal church that is.......to see how ruthless it has been in defending itself...........any religeon or belief system that cannot face up to criticism is not worth a light. True light is out there for true seekers..........I saw both films and enjoyed them but I thought the DC was the best one......yes they both contain lots of mysteries and raise questions...but even if they are far fetched it seems to me that the church anyway has lost sight of the mystery of faith and belief.it has all become so mundane and lacking in richness and inspiration..........myself I, as a retired priest, follow the Christian Mystics way.....with a bit of a Celtic flavour...some think me weird..but so what..........I gave up bothering about what folk think some time ago...been away and missed to site...
Have a look at the trailer for Philip Gardiner's upcoming DVD about Dan Green's research into what he calls 'the extinction of the Holy Bloodline'. Was Mary Magdalene murdered? Did the Catholic Church conspire to eradicate the Holy Bloodline from existence?
Da Vinci's remains to be exhumed amid Mona Lisa self-portrait mystery
Scientists hope to exhume the remains of Leonardo da Vinci so they can reconstruct his face to discover whether the Mona Lisa is a disguised self-portrait.
The film is POV Henry Lincoln, and is made by Michael Bott - a name that will be familiar to BSD members, especially those that visited the Congress in 2008.
