I can see why some have considered this a hoax: I know nothing of linguistics or cryptography but the repetition of the high-looped 'H' which occurs in a surprisingly high proportion of the words suggests we're not looking at unencrypted text. Perhaps the 'H's are encryption markers which can only be understood in relation to another, reference text, not yet discovered.

Perhaps some kid will come along with a calculator and a copy of Harrius Potter et Philosophi Lapis and the problem will be solved.

The Voynich manuscript is the gift that keeps on giving...

In 2017, there was a claim by writer Nichols Gibbs that it was a women's health manual, then in 2018, researchers using Artificial Intelligence claimed to have deciphered the text as a variety of ancient Hebrew writing.

Now, an honorary research associate at the University of Bristol claims that it is a 'proto-Romance' language, a type of ancient Turkish, a claim that the University has beenquick to distance itself from.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it - Terry Pratchett.
