Nikola Tesla: The patron saint of geeks?

Post by simonwheeler »

A somewhat unkind headline (?) from the BBC website article
Born in what is now Croatia to Serbian parents, he moved to New York in 1884 and developed radio controlled vehicles, wireless energy and the first hydro-electric plant at Niagara Falls. But he was an eccentric. He believed celibacy spurred on the brain, thought he had communicated with extraterrestrials, and fell in love with a pigeon.
A possible biopic starring Christian Bale and directed by Mike Newell is doing the rounds of the Hollywood rumour mill.

Hey ho...here we go...it's David Blaine, looking for more publicity I presume.....
US performance artist David Blaine is to spend three days and three nights amid an artificial lightning storm as part of his latest feat of endurance.
Beginning on Friday, he will stand surrounded by seven Tesla coils - electrical columns that shoot out small bolts of lightning - for 72 hours.
