A fragment of pelvis bone unearthed in Winchester in 1999 may belong to King Alfred the Great or his son Edward the Elder, academics have said.

I watched that programme on TV last night. It wasn't really that compelling!
Maybe I'm just a killjoy! :P However on the other hand, it could be...... :mrgreen:

Interesting story which to me has strong links to Richard 3 and the car park grave, if you dowse the Hyde Abbey gardens I find something in the south east corner of the car park there which hints at King Alfred and that time frame ?
